À propos de l'œuvre

Le 90-92 avenue Ambroise Croizat faisait partie de l’ancien Pax Hôtel, tenu par les grands-parents des propriétaires actuels, Alfred et Albertine Moulin.
Le Pax Hôtel a été un haut lieu de la Résistance lors de la Seconde Guerre mondiale. L’hôtel a servi de lieu de rencontres clandestines pour les résistants, de poste d’observation, de cache d’armes et d’accueil pour les Juifs, entre autres.
Alfred, Albertine et leurs quatre enfants ont été très actifs pendant la Résistance.
C’est cet héritage, ce passé, ces racines et ce message antifasciste, de tolérance, d’ouverture à l’autre, de liberté, de fraternité, d’égalité et de dignité que Yann Chatelin a traduit à sa manière dans cette fresque.
Le personnage aux yeux fermés symbolise la confiance et la détermination à survivre, tout comme la rose sait se défendre. Il représente également la renaissance.
Le texte à droite du bâtiment reprend le début du Chant des Partisans, l’hymne des résistants durant la Seconde Guerre mondiale.

The building at 90-92 avenue Ambroise Croizat was once part of the former Pax Hôtel, run by the grandparents of the current owners, Alfred and Albertine Moulin.
The Pax Hôtel was a major hub of the French Resistance during the Second World War. The hotel served as a secret meeting place for resistance fighters, an observation post, an arms cache, and a shelter for Jews, among other things.
Alfred, Albertine, and their four children were very active in the Resistance.
It is this heritage, this past, these roots, and this message of anti-fascism, tolerance, openness to others, freedom, brotherhood, equality, and dignity that Yann Chatelin has translated in his own way in this mural.
The character with closed eyes symbolizes trust and the determination to survive, just as the rose knows how to defend itself. It also represents rebirth.
The text to the right of the buildig reproduces the beginning of the Chant des Partisans, the anthem of the Resistance fighters during the Second World War.
