L’artiste espagnol a commencé le graffiti à 16 ans, en 2000, autour de la ville de León. Très attentif aux causes environnementales, il en a rapidement fait l’une de ses spécialités tout en développant une technique de peinture hyperréaliste et impressionniste.
En combinant les deux, il réussit à tromper l’œil qui ne retiendra que l’image principale et non pas ce dont elle est faite, comme pour ce Lys Pourpre composé de déchets de notre quotidien… Pour l’artiste, la fleur de lys vient remercier le festival de l’avoir invité et représente « une ville qui s’engage pour l’accessibilité de la culture ».
Deux petites dédicaces à des graffeurs décédés font leur apparition dans sa fresque : l’une pour SHORT 79 de Grenoble et l’autre pour IVORY de Lyon.
The Spanish artist started graffiti at the age of 16 in 2000, around the city of León. Deeply committed to environmental causes, he quickly made them one of his specialties while developing a hyperrealistic and impressionist painting technique.
By combining the two, he manages to fool the eye, which only sees the main image and not what it is made of — as with this Purple Lily composed of everyday waste… For the artist, the lily flower is a way of thanking the festival for inviting him and represents “a city committed to making culture accessible.”
Two small tributes to deceased graffiti artists appear in his mural: one for SHORT 79 from Grenoble and the other for IVORY from Lyon.
